HOW TO GET THERE
Glen Carlou is located in the Cape Winelands, which is about 45 minutes outside of Cape Town. The easiest route from UK is to fly directly to Cape Town with either British Airways or Virgin – however it can be quite expensive. A cheaper alternative would be to book with Lufthansa (via Frankfurt), Turkish Airways (via Istanbul) or Emirates (via Dubai). We’d definitely recommend hiring a car whilst in Cape Town, however Uber is safe and very cheap too.

BEACHES

Camps Bay: for an extensive sandy bay and big waves with lots of lovely cafes and restaurants close by. Can be a bit manic in peak season. Avoid on 1st January (HUGE public holiday).
Clifton 3rd and 4th beach- these are our favourite, a bit of a climb down but well worth it for a shettled, pretty bay. No amenities/shade. Nearest shop 15 min walk.
Llandudno Beach: A Surfers beach surrounded by granite boulders
Boulders Bay: Visit the famous South African penguins
Noordhoek: A Beautiful beach for hiking/ horse riding but would not recommend swimming here
HIKES & WALKS

Lions Head: A fantastic 1hour 30 up and down, with panoramic views of table mountain, camps bay and cape town city.
Table Mountain: A difficult walk with two routes either a long, gradual climb or faster steeper climb. If you want to enjoy Table Mountain in all its glory- but not keen on the walk, there is a cable car that can take you up and down. Queues can be long. Recommend walking early to avoid the midday heat.
Constantia Nek: Starting and ending at Constantia Nek, this 2-3 hour walk takes you up to the flat of the mountain where there are a couple of dams.
OTHER ACTIVITIES
If you have a car, the coastal drive to Chapmans Peak.
Unreal scenes and a must do.
Kirstenbosch Botantical Gardens- a real beauty spot in the heart of CPT.

Quentin at Oakhurst- incredible all you can eat ‘Whole Foods style’ buffet on Sundays- need to book.

RESTAURANTS
Blanko, Constantia. Located in a private quad with a boutique hotel, spa, pool bar and cafe. To be honest all 3 restaurants here are fabulous!
The Grand Cafe- with it’s sandy floor, outlook onto the sea and music, it is a perfect place for a bevvy and lunch/dinner.
The Cod Father- a great seafood restaurant (with fresh fish, calamari, prawns and sushi)
Lelapa Restaurant for local cuisine!
Whole Earth Cafe- for the health conscious out there
Chef’s Warehouse Beau Constantia
The Test Kitchen for fine dining.
